O BASI

BASI PILATES

Why BASI?

Not every Pilates school teaches the same way.

For over 30 years, BASI has been training teachers worldwide. Today, the school is present in over 40 countries, combining a respect for classical methods with a modern approach to movement. This method of teaching forms the foundation of our studio.

BASI stands for Body Arts and Science International. The name reflects the school’s philosophy, where knowledge of movement, anatomy, and biomechanics goes hand in hand with attention to quality workmanship—precision, detail, and aesthetics of movement.

The school was founded by Rael Isacowitz, a teacher, author, and one of the most recognizable figures in the contemporary Pilates world. From the outset, its goal was to develop the Pilates method in a way that remained true to its roots while also addressing contemporary knowledge and the needs of today’s clients.

At BASI, Pilates is viewed as a coherent system. The mat, reformer, Cadillac, chair, and other equipment are not separate training methods, but complementary elements of a single whole. The focus remains on the quality of movement—its precision, control, and understanding of the purpose of each exercise. This approach is reflected in both the training programs and the daily work of teachers in the gym.

The values of Passion, Compassion, and Excellence—passion, empathy, and the pursuit of the highest standards—also hold a significant place in the school’s philosophy. These values have for years shaped the way the school teaches, develops teachers, and builds relationships with people.

For us, BASI is synonymous with quality.
